The Long Weekend Formula
How to squeeze maximum adventure into a 72-hour window without burning out.
Long weekends are the lifeblood of working adults. But a 3-day trip requires a completely different planning paradigm than a 14-day expedition. You don't have the luxury of "we'll figure it out when we get there."
Rule 1: Limit Transit Time
If your trip is three days, your total travel time (flights, driving, trains) in one direction should not exceed 4 hours. Any further, and you spend 30% of your vacation in transit.
Rule 2: One "Hero" Activity Per Day
Do not overpack. Choose exactly one "Hero" activity a day (a massive hike, a big concert, a crucial dinner reservation). Let the rest of the day flex around that pillar.
Rule 3: Have Reservations Ready
On a 14-day trip, wandering around for 45 minutes looking for a dinner spot is part of the adventure. On a 3-day trip, it's a massive waste of precious time. Book the dinners before you leave. Use Tript to lock those Timed Events on your calendar so your group knows exactly when to rally.
